Full Trailer for BOTH “The Facebook Movie” AND “The Myspace Movie”
Honestly, with my boy Justin Timberlake in the movie, I would have watched it even if it was just him making Facebook status updates for two hours.
But, I have to admit, the new “Facebook Movie” looks like it has actual potential. I guess one shouldn’t expect less from a David Fincher movie though (one scored by Trent Reznor, no less). hat tip: Digital Inspiration
(I love that the name is not actually “The Facebook Movie” but that’s what everyone calls it!)
More of a retro, Myspace fan? You’re in luck! For you Tom fans -- er, friends -- out there, there’s a movie for you as well! OK, not really, but the Huffington Post shared a “trailer” from Best Week Ever here.
What do you think? Will this be a movie you’ll be checking out?

From the WTF Files: Tiptoes the Movie (Gary Oldman in the role that dwarfs all others)

sadly, no joke
If you read my most recent blog post, then you know I’m a fan of Rainn Wilson’s tweets. It was through one of said tweets that I became aware of what I am about to share.
Warning: What I am about to share is not for the faint of heart!
Close your eyes (humor me for a moment, if you will) and imagine the year is 2003 (cue “In da Club” by 50 Cent or Clay Aiken singing “Invincible” – your choice). On second thought, don’t close your eyes, because then you won’t be able to read this. Instead, just use your imagination with your eyes open (Train’s “Calling all Angels” is now playing).
Your friend (to keep it gender neutral, let’s name your friend “Pat”) calls and invites you to catch a movie. The flick Pat has in mind recently debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and features Kate Beckinsale, Matthew McConaughey, Patricia Arquette, Peter Dinklage, David Alan Grier and Gary Oldman.
Pat has a coupon for a free popcorn and even offers to drive. Of course you accept the invitation.
Fast forward six years to now (hopefully this doesn’t require too far a stretch of your imagination – cue Lady Gaga singing about her Pokerface if it helps).
Question: Pat calls today and invites you to a movie. Based on Pat’s track record, do you accept?
Need more information before you answer? OK – I’ll indulge you.
Ladies and gentleman, for your viewing pleasure, I present the trailer for the movie you attended with Pat back in 2003:

StarTrek and Life Lessons (part one)
I haven’t seen the new Star Trek movie yet – but hope to remedy that soon!
When I do, I’ll be keeping my eyes open looking for one face in particular.
Randy Pausch, the Carnegie Mellon professor best know for delivering the poignant “Last Lecture“, was a huge Star Trek fan. On his 12/01/2007 blog post, Randy wrote:
This is, by far, the coolest thing (okay, #2 behind the palliative chemo working). JJ Abrams (Hollywood producer/director who did the TV series “Lost,” the movie “Mission Impossible III” and a bunch of other stuff) emailed me, out of the blue:

What do you think? Tropic Thunder PSA a bit – um – “Intellectually Disabled”?
Last night I watched Tropic Thunder. Spectacularly funny movie that pokes fun of Hollywood and spoofs the Vietnam War movie genre and makes it ok to be a Ben Stiller fan again. I highly recommend it.
In the movie, Ben Stiller plays a Sylvester Stallone-esque actor whose attempt to branch out to more serious roles lands him in a movie called “Simple Jack” in which he plays a character with “intellectual disabilities”.
Of course the movie uses the less “politically correct” term “retard”.
I remember reading that this led to boycotts of the movie when Tropic Thunder was first released. So I was not entirely surprised that the DVD contains the following PSA
Still, I found this a bit of an insult to my intelligence. Or at least to my common sense and ability to distinguish what might be done for the sake of comedy versus what is considered acceptable, compassionate behavior in the real world. read more
