Disney Can’t Touch This

CBS just posted this follow-up on a previous story about a couple of girls who are the best of friends, despite their differences.  Since the initial piece aired, the gal pals have been inundated with attention – including an offer from Disney (they declined).

I defy you to watch the story of Tara and Bella without reacting with at least a tiny internal “awwww”!

(Note: The video may start on it’s own – I’m not sure why the player is ignoring the autoplay settings – sorry about that!)

Tara & Bella, part one

Personally, I could spend hours watching this stuff! (Admit it – you could too.)
Fear not! To continue the “awww” factor, here’s a collection of more inter-species buddy videos!

Peanut the Rat & Ranj the Cat
And yet my two cats can’t get along.

Omni & Digby

Snaggle Puss the Cat and Bubbles the Baby Rabbit
OK – seriously now- what is wrong with MY cats?! Marley and Kaya (because I know you’ll read this!): If this cat can resist eating the bunny, surely you two could share the couch peacefully?!?

Tiger Makes Friend with Dog

Puppy & Duckling

Bessie the Dachsund Puppy and her Adopted Tiger Cub
All the more poignant since *SPOILER ALERT* Bessie is a surrogate surrogate: her father was run over by a postman(?!), shortly after being signed up as foster parent.

(a more “colorful” piece on Bessie & cub)

Random Badger & Baby Otter

Cat Adopts Baby Red Panda

Snake Befriends Hamster “Lunch”
This one is not so much an “awww” – but I’m including it as another example to rub my cats’ noses in to illustrate how unreasonable their behavior is.

Christian The Lion
People count as a species – right?! (I had to include Christian – I just love him so!!). Watch the “Today Show” version here.

“Full Ending” version from Born Free Foundation
(minus Whitney Houston music, but with much more reunion footage PLUS a cameo by Christian’s imprisoned parents)

more Christian

More!

Owen & Mzee
“In December 2004, a frightened young hippo, separated from his family by a devastating tsunami, bonded with an Aldabra tortoise named Mzee. The 130 year-old tortoise accepted Owen as his own, and an inseparable bond was forged.”  There’s no embeddable clips, so head to the site to  watch the Documentary.

Thelma & Louise
When a woman in Bristol found a stray dog on her lawn, she was surprised at it’s choice of travel companions – a goat.  The duo, dubbed “Thelma and Louise” were brought to the local shelter, which arranged for the pair to be adopted together.  MSNBC’s embeddable player doesn’t seem to play nice with all browsers – but you can watch the video on their site.

If you enjoyed these duos – just wait for the next post! (Yes, there is something that beats animal pairs!)
