Celebrate? Yes We Can! (Inauguration Resource Round-up)

Barack Obama’s inauguration is less than a week away.
In the past, I don’t know that I’ve even watched replays of Inauguration Day ceremonies or ceremonies on the evening news.
This year, I want to celebrate.
I won’t be in Washington, D.C. I’ll be watching on TV with friends, cocktail in hand to toast to our new President and usher in a period of hope in our country.
In addition to watching on television, here are a few ways you can get your dose of Inauguration Day ceremonies and celebrations:
- The Inauguration Committee’s official website (pic2009.org)
They’ve been live-blogging (adding real-time updates to the blog from the event) today’s Inaugural Welcome Event at the Lincoln Memorial, my guess is they will do the same with Tuesday’s ceremonies. - CNN/Facebook
CNN has partnered with Facebook so you can update your Facebook status, and follow your friends’ Facebook updates, while you watch the inauguration live online at http://cnn.com/live. - Associate Press
The AP has a page dedicated to Inaugural Coverage. - Twitter
Follow the day’s events by following the official account at @obamainaugural. To see everyone’s tweets about the event, use Twitter’s search feature (the official hashtag is #inaug09). - Flickr
This links to the Presidential Inaugural Committee’s photostream (shown below). Use Flickr’s search to view photos posted by others in attendance (example: Flickr search results for inaug09).

Visit the site’s channel created to share videos related to the event. For more videos search for “inauguration” or “inaug09“. - T.G.I. Fridays
The restaurant chain is hosting the “World’s Largest Inauguration Party” in 920 of their restaurants in 62 countries around the world all day. Visit the site or read the press release for more information. - Krispy Kreme
Krispy Kreme is “honoring American’s sense of pride and freedom of choice on Inauguration Day, by offering a free doughnut of choice to every customer on this historic day, Jan. 20. By doing so, participating Krispy Kreme stores nationwide are making an oath to tasty goodies — just another reminder of how oh-so-sweet “free” can be.” Check the site for participating stores near you. - Joost
The online video site has an Inauguration Live page dedicated to their live stream of the day. - Your cell phone
Text HISTORY to 56333 to sign up for updates on how you can be a part of this historic moment wherever you are. You can also sign up for updates at the pic2009.org site. - Hulu
Hulu.com will be streaming the event live. In addition to viewing it at their site, you can view the embedded stream below.
