Spotlight on Lynne | AKA “The Fearless Mother”
This week’s spotlight is on Lynne Zaklin.
Lynne grew up in Brooklyn, met her life’s love Michael, had a beautiful baby girl (objectively speaking, of course!) then moved to the suburbs where she added another beautiful baby (this time a boy) to her family.
Mind you, Lynne’s no white picket fenced-in sheltered “Desperate Housewife”. Unlike the lunching ladies of Wisteria Lane, Lynne’s life in suburbia was contrasted by spending her days as school teacher in the Bronx. Summers were spent traveling the world – from camping in KOAs and national parks across our great country, to journeys to Europe, Israel and Central America.
Lynne plans her trips online, keeps in touch with her family using hotmail, and shares pictures from her trip with ofoto. She has a solid collection of bookmarks neatly organized in Internet Explorer. Although she has a facebook profile, Lynne doesn’t quite “get” social media. Lynne’s internet activity falls into that category of “perchers” I’ve referred to in prior posts.
Oh yeah - Lynne’s my mother.
And the star of a new feature I am adding to the blog!
“Lynne Asks” is a twist on the usual advice or Q&A column. Instead of me soliciting questions and limiting readers to my perspective on the answer, I’d like to harness the power of internet to let the world answer Lynne’s questions by leaving a comment here or on friendfeed, or by tweeting a response in 140 characters or less.
