What’s Ailing Me: A Raging Case of Blogger’s Envy
Warning - don’t get too close! I seem to have come down with something pretty icky and would hate for you to catch it. I haven’t been to the doctor yet, but I don’t need an MD to help me figure out that I’ve got a pretty severe case of Blogger’s Envy. Hopefully it’s not contagious!
I awoke this morning to discover my beau has begun to blog!
Yay! Seriously, this guy keeps getting better – blogging is so sexy!
My love and support for my man compelled me to read his first blog post as soon as I could (you should too!). OK, my love and support for my man, plus the burning curiosity to see if he’d mentioned me at all (he did).
“But, surely your sweetie’s foray into the world of blogging could not be the cause of your raging Blogger’s Envy?” you ask.
I reply with a two part response:
First: It’s not that my handsome honey is blogging – and is as fantastic at that as he is with all that he does – that left me with this case of envy. It’s what he’s blogging about that’s left me with the aforementioned Blogger’s Envy:
This won’t be just a blog that functions as a diary. My goal is to pass along useful information that I learn and feel is valuable to others. Although it will have information about what I’m doing, it won’t be just about me. I’m always looking for a better way to do things and I do occasionally get obsessed with things until I figure them out . . . Since I’m always looking for a way to improve, I wanted a place to share those ideas. Here it is.
Hey! That’s what I want my blog to be! It’s what I had in my mind’s eye – in my heart’s vision – when my blog was idea without a domain to call its home.
But I somehow missed the mark. And as I’ve been grappling with how bring my blog back on course, the result has been some sort of mishmash of a form of meta-blogging where I feel like I am constantly blogging about blogging this blog.
Which after a while starts to feel a bit – well – stale.
And staleness leads to discontent. And discontent, if left untreated, can quickly escalate to a raging case of Blogger’s Envy such as mine.
I’m not entirely sure of the cure, but I have a sneaking suspicion it includes copious amounts of chocolate, lots of bedrest (with kitties), and a healthy dose of Hulu.
Combine that with a strict elimination diet to rid myself of the talking, over-thinking, and meta-blogging and add a daily regimen of “just do it” and I should be on the mend in no time!
Second (I said this is a two part response):
Don’t call me Shirley!
