Housekeeping – Intense Debate Comments
Just a quick post to let everyone know I’ve been trying to tweak my blog to make it more user/reader friendly and interactive.
So far, hopefully, there hasn’t been any noticeably negative side effects of this. One exception to that is my installation of Intense Debate seems to have wiped out any previous comments – something I am working to resolve. (I still have them, they just aren’t showing – hopefully this is just a synching issue!) [see my update, below]
That said, Intense Debate should make it easier for everyone to read and view comments, as well as respond to existing comments and track further responses. Registration is optional, so hopefully this should simplify and not complicate commenting. If it does create any issues, please let me know and I will remove ID from my site and go back to the initial system.
One feature Intense Debate also brings to the site is you can now leave comments on the blog’s sidenotes. [see my update, below] I’m still working on ways to best integrate those “bloglets” into the site.
Disappearing comments aside, your feedback is always more than welcome. Please let me know how the site might be easier for you to navigate, interact with, get updates, or anything else that comes to mind!
In fact, why not start now, by giving the new commenting system a whirl!
Big hugs!
Faryl
Update on this post – Seems any issues I was having was related to installing ID on both a subdomain (the sidenotes) and the main blog. Once I reinstalled ID for the main blog only, things seemed to resolve themselves. So, still comments on the sidenotes (at least for now), but everything else does seem to be working ok. (Please let me know if you experience otherwise)
I did get feedback from one commentor (whose comment unfortunately got lost with my reinstall) regarding some formatting issues and passed those along to Intense Debate support. Within hours, a support person from Intense Debate (now owned by Automattic, Inc.), responded to not only help fix the issue, he also subscribed to the blog as well!
So, so far, so good with the new commenting system. Again – if you have any issues, please pipe up!

I think the blog is already very user-friendly, but good work making sure us readers enjoy it even more.
Thanks, Joe! I'm trying :-) Video comments are next!
Becoming familiar with "the blog" is more challenging for those of the generation that still believes, "if it isn't broken, why replace it." Hotmail and Google have become the "comfort foods" of the internet. User-friendly is very important and much appreciated!!
Glad you found it user-friendly! I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment :-)
absolutely your right, you made the right choice
